Black Ops Cold War Multiplayer Reveal

“We’ve worked with teams from our partner studios to advance our tech tremendously since Black Ops 4. Art and design really nailed it with natural environments and lifelike characters, weapons, and vehicles. When you experience all this along with our awesome 3D audio, it’s fully immersive.” – Eran Rich, Director of Technology

Black Ops Cold War features enhanced in-game audio, including 3D audio support on next-gen and PC, and a complete acoustic model to provide an authentic sound experience on all platforms. This allows sound waves to be delayed, reflected, and obstructed by geometry accurately, dynamically changing as players and other sound sources navigate through complex scenes.

We’ve also incorporated a new Threat Priority audio system that dynamically assigns higher priorities to direct threats during a firefight, so you always hear what you need to be successful. Shots are louder and sound different when an enemy is firing toward you; directional footsteps help determine the proximity and position of your enemies above, below, and around; directional bullet cracks and bullet impacts let you know where the highest threats are located; and improved occlusion provides more detail about the direction and distance of events all around you. On top of all this, next-generation hardware supports awesome 3D audio features, like HRTF on the PlayStation®5.

In the heat of a Multiplayer shootout, these new audio systems more clearly communicate where the danger is coming from at all times. In a game where sound can sometimes mean all the difference between victory and defeat, players will have every bit of information they need to win based on their awareness, map knowledge, and talent.

On next-gen consoles, players can expect 120Hz support for reduced input latency and a smoother gameplay experience, and hardware-based raytracing will be possible on next-gen, along with DirectX raytracing on PC for more realistic lighting and shadow effects. And on the PlayStation 5, haptic feedback and HRTF 3D audio will provide the most tactile combat experience yet in a Black Ops game.

Shadow Siege Limited-Time Modern Warfare III Reveal Event – Details and Rewards

At the beginning of the Shadow Siege event, up to 32 Operators will receive a briefing from Commander Phillip Graves. Listen up; Graves only has time to detail key intel and mission objectives once, and this information is critical to the mission’s success.

It’s your loss if you decide to tune out the Shadow Company CEO.

NOTE: Due to the severity of this mission, we recommended squading up in Quads. Be sure to bring three allies to the fight with you or use Squad Fill to complete your Quad.

For those requiring step-by-step clarity, Shadow Siege is as follows:

First, everyone is on the same team for this Operation; all Operators will battle against Konni Group AI Combatants. Shadow Company provides a Durable Gas Mask and a Self-Revive Kit to go alongside your Custom Loadout.

Furthermore, respawns are enabled. However, if you go down, it’s best to get revived by a squadmate, as that’s a faster way to get back into the fight rather than having to parachute back in.

Phase I: Secure One of Eight Missile Launchers

After dropping out of the infiltration plane, Operators must secure one of eight missile silos around Al Mazrah with their squad. These silos can be located on your in-game Tac Map and via missile icons in the overworld.

Once all missile silos are secured, the Zaya Observatory is bombarded with missiles, changing Al Mazrah forever.

This is also when Phase II of the Operation begins.

Phase II: Collect Gas Canisters

After the target — an underground weapons facility for manufacturing chemical weaponry — is revealed underneath the Zaya Observatory, all Operators must collect 45 gas canisters combined across all squads.

The second you collect a gas canister, your perspective will shift from first to third person until the canister is deposited at a helicopter transport vehicle outside the facility. Once you have a canister, the helicopter transport is clearly marked on your Tac Map, as well as within the overworld, with an icon of said vehicle.

Because the arsenal contains chemical weapons, every Operator has a Durable Gas Mask for safety. The Tac Map shows the area (in yellow) where there is too much chemical radiation for an Operator to handle without a Gas Mask, just like a Circle Collapse in other modes.

Be prepared to frequently replace Gas Masks while inside the facility; open Supply Boxes, grab them off dead enemy agents, or look to the exfil chopper to find more Gas Masks — this is vital to your Operator’s health.

Expect some hard-hitting enemies to be stationed in, around, and above the Observatory complex as you battle your way to the chemical weapons arsenal and attempt to extract those gas canisters.

Along the way, Operators may face Commanders in the air (attack helicopters) and on the ground (Wheelsons and Juggernauts). These are highly dangerous enemies compared to the regular Konni Group, but it’s vital to engage them if you’re intent on earning the new M13C Base Weapon reward.

While moving through the underground facility, Konni agents may drop their phones. Keep your head on a swivel to intercept enemy communications… And maybe figure out why they are here defending this lab underneath Al Mazrah.

Phase III: Exfil

The second that 45th canister is collected, all Operators must find the exfil location (the icon is the same as the Exfil Chopper icon in DMZ) to leave Al Mazrah immediately. At this time, the gas (a green circle on the Tac Map) will explode outwards from the facility.

It is possible to get left behind if you don’t reach the Exfil Chopper before it leaves — keep that in mind when trying to complete all reward objectives for Shadow Siege.

Whether you reach the Exfil Chopper or not, the ultimate threat is revealed… In participating with Shadow Siege, you become the first to learn Konni’s true agenda, as well as see the Worldwide Reveal Trailer for Modern Warfare III.

Note – Operation: Rogue Arsenal is replayable until its planned removal from the Call of Duty: Warzone playlist rotation on August 21 at 10:30 A.M. PT.

Worldwide Reveal: Announcing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III

All 16 launch maps from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) have been modernized, both graphically and with meticulous attention given to the authenticity and aspects of the maps that made them so popular. Veteran players love these Core 6v6 maps, and there’s no better time to introduce a generation of new players to experience the community’s favorite Modern Warfare content.

Prepare for seminal design to meet modern gameplay. This faithful modernization of the maps keeps their authenticity intact while infusing the latest tech, gameplay, modes, content, and more. Though you might have noticed elements of Terminal and Highrise during your time in Al Mazrah, the Modern Warfare III versions of these maps are built from scratch from the original 2009 designs.

In addition to brand-new modes like Cutthroat (a competitive 3v3v3 experience), a full range of fan-favorite and innovative gameplay features will be available at launch to get everyone started, like choosing to play Hardpoint and Kill Confirmed on Favela, modes that were never part of the original map offering, providing a refreshing multiplayer experience within these familiar environments.

Going Big with Brand-New Maps. Ground War and War Modes Return!

The 16 Core launch maps are further complemented with the addition of four huge environments ready at launch and containing a host of new play spaces. These are composed of three brand-new Battle Maps — large scale locations where Modern Warfare III’s Ground War and Invasion game modes will be fought — and a single, colossal War map, as Modern Warfare III marks the welcome return and evolution of the legendary War Mode that first debuted in 2017’s Call of Duty®: WWII.

All-New Core Map Content Comes to Live Season Content

With Day One Multiplayer content featuring faithful modernizations of Modern Warfare’s fan-favorite maps, over 12 all-new core 6v6 maps will fuel post-launch live seasons.

Multiplayer Features: New Mechanics and Robust Customization

Expect many customization advancements and new gameplay mechanics to further evolve the quintessential, fast-moving gameplay. Here are three innovations, with more to be revealed in the coming weeks:
