The Rank Up Report #29: Going Underground

Operation: Rank Up Report #0029

Day 203 – 11:11:11 PST

Somewhere in Verdansk

AGB – Lead Writer

As the action heats up in Verdansk, this Rank Up Report should help you put those enemies on ice with some cool custom loadouts…

And look cool while doing it with our featured Operators of the week:

Operators of the Week

This week, we show off Classic Ghost, part of the new Contingency Bundle that launched this week. A much-anticipated skin, this is Ghost as veterans of the franchise remember him, from his iconic ski mask right down to his boots on the ground.

Included in that Bundle is the weapon our featured Operators are holding: the Ghostly Premonition Assault Rifle.

As for the Allegiance, I chose Rodion’s Burger Town skin, which is unlocked at Tier 60 of the Season Three Battle Pass. At this point in Season Three, you may have already unlocked this Rodion skin, or at least reached this Tier without purchasing the Battle Pass.

Even in a Coalition-heavy Battle Pass, this Rodion skin – and the alternates you unlock through his Operator Missions – is a reminder of how Allegiance fans can get still some cool stuff from this ultra-valuable pass.

TOP SECRET MESSAGE TO ALL ARMISTICE OPERATORS

CLASSIFIED INFORMATION TO FOLLOW

ARMISTICE OPERATORS:

WE HAVE RECEIVED WORD OF A PROTOTYPICAL WEAPON HIDDEN UNDERGROUND IN VERDANSK. OPERATOR TEAMS ARE ALREADY IDENTIFYING WHERE THIS WEAPON IS, BUT AT TIME OF TRANSMISSION, WE DO NOT KNOW IF THEY HAVE BEEN GRANTED FULL ACCESS TO ITS LOCATION.

WE HAVE SUCCESSFULLY DISRUPTED AQ COMMUNICATIONS AND HAVE WIRETAPPED THEIR CALLS. UNFORTUNATELY, THEY HAVE COUNTERED OUR EFFORTS WITH SCRAMBLERS.

THE CALLS ARE NOW GOING TO MULTIPLE HARDLINES IN VERDANSK. LISTEN CLOSELY TO WHAT THEY ARE SAYING DURING THESE TRANSMISSIONS, AND BRUSH UP ON YOUR RUSSIAN – YOU MIGHT NEED IT.

INTEL SUGGESTS THE HOLDING AREA CONTAINING THE PROTOTYPE OPENS VIA MARKED TELEPHONES IN VERDANSK.FURTHERMORE, THE ACCESS CODE CHANGES FREQUENTLY – AQ KNOWS THIS PROTOTYPE IS DANGEROUS, NOT A TOY.

BE WARY OF AQ SLEEPER AGENTS SPREADING FALSE CODES TO DETER ACCESS TO BOTH ENEMIES AND ALLIES. THESE CODES MAY BE SHARED THROUGH CIVILIAN MEDIA – E.G., VIDEOS, SOCIAL MEDIA – AND ARE NOT VIABLE FOR COMPLETING THIS MISSION.

THE POWERFUL PROTOTYPE WEAPON IS MEANT TO BE USED BY AQ ELITE FORCES. WE BELIEVE IT TO BE A CUSTOM-BUILT SUBMACHINE GUN. EXTRACTING THIS WEAPON WILL FURTHER CRIPPLE THEIR DEFENSES AND BOLSTER OUR OWN ARSENAL.

THIS OPERATION IS TOP SECRET AND SHOULD NOT BE SHARED OUTSIDE OF ARMISTICE. WE RISK LOSING VERDANSK AND STARTING GLOBAL THERMONUCLEAR WAR IF THE EXTRACTION OPERATION IS COMPROMISED.

DO NOT TRUST ANYONE OUTSIDE OF YOUR SQUAD IN VERDANSK. TREAT ANYONE – INCLUDING THOSE WITHIN ARMISTICE – TRYING TO ACCESS THIS PROTOTYPE AS A HOSTILE FORCE.

REPEAT: ACCESS THE AREA, EXTRACT THE PROTOTYPE. WEAPONS FREE ON ALL THREATS TO THE OPERATION.

STAY FROSTY.

TRANSMISSION OVER – REST OF RANK UP REPORT TO FOLLOW.

And that, Operators, are my tips on getting 30 consecutive kills in Multiplayer and earning a Tactical Nuke in Modern Warfare. Although it is a tough task, I hope these exclusive tips will help you earn this powerful secret Killstreak capable of ending entire matches, and ultimately earn you bragging rights among your friends and enemies.

I’ll see you online. Stay frosty.

The Rank Up Report #40: Achieving Warzone™ Mastery

Here’s what these Warzone challenges are, from criteria and XP rewards – including a summary of multi-step ones – to an easy to follow, difficult to achieve, tip for each mastery challenge:

Battle Royale Victories – Get 1 / 10 / 50 / 200 / 300 Victories playing Warzone Battle Royale

Reward: 10,000 XP (1) / 25,000 (10 / 50/ 200 / 300)

Out of the many, many tips I could give here, I’ll go with a timely one: take advantage of limited-time modes, as they usually offer alternative winning strategies for victory. Some, such as Mini Royale, are faster to complete and smaller in size than a traditional game, which theoretically weighs the odds of winning more in your favor.

Odds aside, you’ll still have to win games, so get ready to fight for your 50 dubs!

Plunder Victories – Get 1 / 10 / 50 / 200 / 300 Victories playing Warzone Plunder

Reward: 10,000 XP (1) / 25,000 (10 / 50/ 200 / 300)

Winning a Plunder match involves knowing every single point of interest within Verdansk where Cash, Supply Boxes, and Contracts can, and will, spawn. Want that juicy intel? Well, we have an Atlas for that – study it thoroughly and leave no stone unturned with a full squad on a mission for mad cash.

Warzone Victories – Get 5 / 25 / 100 / 300 / 400 Victories playing Warzone

Reward: 10,000 XP (5) / 25,000 (25 / 100 / 300 / 400)

This marks the last “career” Mastery challenge, and it brings up two extremely important facts for this trio of extremely long and difficult challenges:

1. These three aren’t meant to be completed in one sitting, so let the victories come as they may.

2. Although you could be a solo player, squadding up with solid teammates – or even better, friends – might make these victories easier to come by, if not more fun as you all work towards becoming masters of the Warzone!

RICOCHET Anti-Cheat™ Progress Report – Season 04 Update

#TeamRICOCHET uses a variety of systems that are consistently tuned and updated to identify and capture cheaters. These updates happen for a variety of reasons: we have new methods to detect cheaters, cheat developers update their processes to circumvent identification, we’re launching new tricks. There are many reasons.

This is the cat-and-mouse nature of anti-cheat development. We make a move, they counter; we fix a problem, they create new issues.

One thing we wanted to clarify is that the security team’s efforts run alongside the game itself and therefore, in the instance of something like mitigations, these processes cannot trigger without reason.

Think of the security layer from #TeamRICOCHET as a connected but separate pipeline from the active game. The game on your machine and our servers exchange information to operate a multiplayer match. As part of that process, info from that machine/server exchange splits off and feeds into the security pipeline in real-time for detection and investigation. The security team only steps in if we detect an abnormality.

Mitigation triggers do not consider you having the best game of your life as an abnormality. Similarly, if a wave of people submits malicious in-game reports about you, those reports can’t activate mitigations without additional corroboration. These processes do not function together in that way – and there’s a long list of ways we detect cheaters in real-time.

In short, if two people are in a gunfight and neither is cheating, there’s no way for our in-game mitigations to get in the way of the result.

Third-Party Hardware Device Detection Update

In our previous Progress Report, we detailed a new detection for the malicious use of third-party hardware devices. Today, we want to examine the results we saw within the first two weeks of the detection being live.

As a reminder, third-party hardware devices used to provide a player with an unfair advantage are against our Security and Enforcement Policy. Players found to be using these devices will be served warnings and account penalties.

Within the first two weeks of launching this detection we saw a 59% drop in any use of these devices across Modern Warfare II and Warzone – inclusive of MWII Ranked Play (Warzone Ranked had not launched within this window). Of those users, 57% of them did not utilize the device again, whereas 43% once again attempted to circumvent the policy.

Repeat offenders and those continuing to use these devices without pause have been penalized. Malicious use of these devices may result in account suspensions – up to permanent account bans.

Like all anti-cheat systems, the moment we announced our detections, cheat makers and cheaters worked to find new ways to play unfairly. Our detection methods and systems for this detection (and others) have seen consistent updates and we have multiple methods of approach to identify the use of these devices. These, like all detections, will continue to evolve and update to combat cheating.

In-Game Reporting Update

Anti-Toxicity Progress Report – Voice Chat Moderation

Read the Call of Duty Voice Chat Moderation Q&A

Since the launch of Modern Warfare II, Call of Duty’s existing anti-toxicity moderation has restricted voice and/or text chat to over 1 million accounts detected to have violated the Call of Duty Code of Conduct. Consistently updated text and username filtering technology has established better real-time rejection of harmful language.

In examining the data focused on previously announced enforcement, 20% of players did not reoffend after receiving a first warning. Those who did reoffend were met with account penalties, which include but are not limited to feature restrictions (such as voice and text chat bans) and temporary account restrictions. This positive impact aligns with our strategy to work with players in providing clear feedback for their behavior.

As part of the collaboration with our partner studios, the anti-toxicity team also helped add Malicious Reporting to the Call of Duty Security and Enforcement Policy to combat a rise in false reporting in-game.

This type of commitment to the game and the Community from our players is incredibly important and we are grateful to our community for their efforts in combating disruptive behavior. We ask our Call of Duty players to continue to report any disruptive behavior they encounter as we work to reduce and limit the impact of disruptive behavior in Call of Duty.

Teams across Call of Duty are dedicated to combating toxicity within our games. Utilizing new technology, developing critical partnerships, and evolving our methodologies is key in this ongoing commitment. As always, we look forward to working with our community to continue to make Call of Duty fair and fun for all.
