Season Five Reloaded: Games of Summer Commence in Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® and Warzone™

To the Victor Goes the Spoils for Self and Country

For participating in Games of Summer, players will receive rewards based on performance within each Trial. These rewards are stackable – if a competitor achieves gold on the first try, they will receive all three rewards for their epic (or in some cases, legendary) achievement.

Each Trial medal comes alongside rewards (rewards can only be received once) and all players who participate earn the ‘Games of Summer Cup’ weapon charm. Trials rewards include but are not limited to vehicle skins, XP tokens, vehicle horns, calling cards, and Legendary weapon blueprints.

Earn gold in each Trial and receive the Legendary Assault Rifle Juliet Blueprint, a weapon truly built for chasing first place on any leaderboard. Built for pure precision with a clear, non-magnified sight picture, consider this a “gold standard” among a competitive pool of this weapon platform’s existing blueprints.

Update: the Games of Summer Leaderboards, broken down by Trial, will now be determined by each country’s top score or time among their representatives. Ties will be broken by the second best score from each country. The old scoring method was as follows:

Individual medals will give points to a player’s respective country, determined by their account’s origin. Each country’s points will be updated daily, and the top 15 countries will be visible on in-game leaderboards. Total scoring is weighted by country participants, so any nation can rise to the top.

Earn medals and rack up your points for your country, then at the culmination of Games of Summer, a country will be crowned champion. Will there be an underdog that claims glory for a well-contested Trial at the 11th hour? Or will one country hold a commanding lead throughout the Games?

Modern Warfare® Games of Summer Gunfight Tournament

10 Gunfight Tournament Tips

Mastery of Gunfight helps you in every other mode, by emphasizing the importance of alertness and situational awareness. And it doesn’t hurt that in the tournament the further you get, the greater the rewards. Here are ten tips to help you come out on top.

10. Two Rounds then Switch. Every loadout change can be an opportunity to play the map in a different way. Consider everything you’re given and think up a new opening strategy.

9. Watch the Skulls… When your teammate goes down, a skull indicator will show you where they fell. There’s a good chance that the enemy will still be nearby, so approach with caution and avenge your ally.

8. …and the Red Indicator. When you or your teammate spots an enemy, a red indicator will show the area where the enemy was spotted. Just like with skull indicators, the enemy may still be in the area, so stay alert.

7. Work Together. Talk to each other. Discussing your opening moves and calling out enemy positions makes a huge difference in your ability to win Gunfight matches.

6. Use Your Secondary. This even goes for your fists if you don’t have an actual secondary. Use the best available weapon depending on the situation and your preferred playstyle.

Sledgehammer Games continues its global expansion with a studio in the United Kingdom

In 2019, Sledgehammer Games entered its second decade of operation since it first opened its doors in 2009. In what we refer to internally as “Decade II” we ushered in a new chapter for our studio with a new set of values and goals for the future. We are ecstatic to have been able to achieve some of those goals in just a few short years, including a massive global hiring campaign with studio expansions in Melbourne, Australia in 2019 and Toronto, Canada in 2021.

In light of that success, we are focused on growing our team by going to places where we believe there is great talent. Today we are excited to announce that we are opening a studio location in Guildford, United Kingdom.

“Guildford has a long history of video game development, and as a result, there’s a lot of top-tier talent and an existing game dev community there and in the surrounding towns. We’re also an easy reverse commute in from London, which has a huge talent pool.”  – Liz Wyle, General Manager of Sledgehammer Games Guilford.

The new Guildford studio will partner with our teams in the Bay Area, Melbourne, and Toronto to support Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Live Seasons as well as future projects we have planned for the years ahead.

Our first flight of open roles spans a broad range of disciplines across Art, Design, Engineering, Animation, UI & UX, Production, Audio, and more. We’re looking for various levels of seniority and we are also prepared to create roles when great talent comes along.

“I’m just really excited to bring our studio brand to the UK, along with the incredible franchise we get to work on. It’s another opportunity to do our own small part to grow the industry, in a place where there’s a huge number of talented developers. As we have done in our other locations, we will be looking to build partnerships with schools and universities to help nurture and grow the next generation of talent. It’s not just about finding people who already work in the industry, it’s about providing pathways for those who are looking to get in. I remember that daunting feeling very well and it makes me happy to be providing opportunity, especially as we emerge from a historic pandemic.” – Andy Wilson, COO Sledgehammer Games

We’re excited to continue building our studio locations, depth of talent, and a broader sense of perspective alongside the upcoming launch of Call of Duty: Vanguard on November 5th.
