Learn more about Call of Duty HQ, the game launcher for Call of Duty

Starting today, Wednesday, November 8, once players download the latest software updates in advance of Modern Warfare III’s worldwide launch, Call of Duty HQ will be the central location to play new and upcoming content for Modern Warfare III, as well as the launch pad for Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare II. Each title will be featured on its own row within Call of Duty HQ, including a What’s Hot row highlighting specific playlists.

·       What’s Hot: The home of top playlists for Modern Warfare III

·       MWIII: Access the Modern Warfare III Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies

·       Warzone: Play Call of Duty: Warzone or the DMZ beta from this row

·       MWII: Access the Modern Warfare II Campaign, Multiplayer, Raids, and more

Call of Duty HQ will also feature an in-game store for Modern Warfare III, and at game launch will include the all-new CODE Warrior Pack and current Modern Warfare II content bundles. New Modern Warfare III content bundles will be available in Season 01.

Warzone playlists will rejoin the What’s Hot row at a later date. Players will be able to seamlessly switch between Modern Warfare III and Warzone content starting in Season 01.

Known Issues

Call of Duty HQ continues to evolve, bringing multiple titles to Call of Duty players from one, single destination. The following issues are known and are being addressed:

·       Physical Disc Identification: Players will encounter changes with how Call of Duty games are listed during the download and installation process. For example, some players who purchase the disc version of Modern Warfare III, but do not already have Modern Warfare II installed will not see the Modern Warfare III icon until COD HQ has fully updated after a Day One patch.

·       Cross-Title Parties: Cross-Title Parties: Players who form parties within Modern Warfare III may be disbanded when switching to Call of Duty: Warzone. If this happens, players can party up again to play in Warzone. This will be corrected in an update shortly after launch of Modern Warfare III.

This month, as part of #CODEFearlessChallenge, the Endowment will release the ‘Fearless Pack’ for Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® and Call of Duty®: Warzone. The pack was created with the help of a distinguished military veteran and will assist the Endowment in its initiative to get veterans back to work. 100% of Activision’s net proceeds from the ‘Fearless Pack’ will go to the Call of Duty Endowment.

This Week in Call of Duty®

The Lead: Modern Warfare

This week in Modern Warfare play a new Multiplayer map Hardhat, experience a new Gunfight battleground Aisle 9, collect the Cash as Blood Money Quads returns to Warzone, pick up a new classic look for Ghost in Store, and more.

The ‘Ghost Pack Contingency’ bundle arrives to the store this week featuring two weapon blueprints including a Legendary assault rifle and a new skin that gives a Ghost a look that veterans will remember. The bundle includes 10 ghostly items, so you can customize your identity from your Operator to your emblem. Find the ‘Ghost Pack Contingency’ bundle in Store and take this look into the battlefield of Modern Warfare including Warzone.

Hardhat, a Multiplayer map at the scene of construction site, is now available in its own 24/7 playlist. This map, first seen in Modern Warfare® 3, is a haven for close quarters, fast-paced, and frenetic combat, but also features some longer sightlines, so a variety of loadout types can find success. Re-experience Hardhat or jump in for the first time to learn the ins and outs of the map, and hopefully achieve victory in your next match.

Aisle 9, the latest Gunfight map, is available in its own unique playlist – ‘Clean Up on Aisle 9’. The 3v3 playlist will host TDM, Kill Confirmed, Grind, and Domination, so players can discover multiple ways to fight on this small map. Aisle 9 will also be playable in the Gunfight map rotation, so stock up for a fight.

Blood Money Quads drops back into Verdansk, so players can expand their trio. Find your fourth and get to collecting Cash, completing Contracts, and of course eliminating opponents to end up on top in Blood Money.

Two updates have arrived in Warzone – a change to Gulag weapons and a new item.

First, players will now find SMGs and assault rifles in the Gulag. While you can still receive a shotgun or pistol, be aware that different weapon classes are now being handed out in this fight for your life. The new weapon choices include the AK-47, M13, Kilo 141, Ram-7, Striker 45, and more. SMGs and assault rifle both expand the range of engagements in the Gulag, so be careful if you decide to rush your opponent.

The Armor Box is a new item available in all modes in Warzone.  Similar to a Munitions Box, this item can be used by the entire team to replenish their armor before or after an engagement. Find the Armor Box in ground loot, Supply Boxes, or purchase it at a Buy Station to make sure you’re protected before you get into a battle.

Brush up on the fundamentals in a new limited-time mode – Classic Battle Royale. This mode strips down Battle Royale and features no Buy Stations, no Contracts, and no Gulag. If you’re out, you’re out. Survive the enemies and the ever-collapsing circle to be the last team standing.

#LiveFromWarzone

It’s another week of battles, longshots, and of course the Gulag streaming #LiveFromWarzone. Tune in to see streams, pros, and some celebrity guests take the fight to the competition in the quest to survive and be the last team standing.

Earn More Rewards in Call of Duty®: Mobile in Seasonal Events

Seasonal events are now live in Call of Duty: Mobile! Test your skills with multi-step challenges that reward items and Battle Pass XP for each step completed, including new functional weapons, weapon skins, characters, and more.

Read on for more info on how seasonal events work and what they offer.

Seasonal Events Overview

To view seasonal events in-game, select the Event tab and go to the Seasonal section. Select any challenge to view its Key Reward, which is the item you will earn after completing the entire challenge. However, there is much more to earn on the way to the Key Reward.

Challenges are made up of multiple steps; there are three steps in the ‘Boot Camp’ challenge and eight steps in ‘Elite Marksman’. When viewing a challenge, use the arrows to cycle through each of its steps. Each step gives players a specific task to complete which are based on the theme of the main challenge. Complete the current step to earn a reward and to gain access to the next.

Earn New Weapons: Pharo, Locus, and Cordite

Seasonal events offer great rewards. To celebrate their introduction, the current season, Once Upon a Time in Rust, has added three new functional weapons players can earn for free through seasonal events.

Complete the sixth step of ‘Close Quarters Master’ to unlock the Pharo SMG, earn the Locus sniper rifle after completing the seventh step of ‘Elite Marksman’, and get the fan-favorite Cordite SMG after completing every step in ‘Gunslinger’. And if you think the base versions of the Pharo and Locus are good, complete all the steps of Close Quarters Master and Elite Marksman to unlock the Pharo – Bandit and Locus – Flowing Bronze.

That’s just a small sampling of what you can earn. Complete ‘Shock & Awe’ to unlock the new Cryo Bomb, or work on your Battle Royale skills to unlock the ATV – Copperhead vehicle skin and the Nomad – Wild Snake character skin via ‘Survival of the Fittest’.

Load up the game now and visit the seasonal events page to see all of the earnable items now available.

3 Tips for Mastering Seasonal Events

1.     Subsequent steps sometimes build on previous ones. For example, complete step five of Elite Marksman to unlock the Arctic .50 – Arctic Viper, which will help you complete step six’s requirement of getting kills with the Arctic .50.

2.     Each step rewards Battle Pass XP, increasing in number the further along you are in each challenge. Complete every challenge for major Battle Pass progression and unlock even more content in the Battle Pass along the way!

3.     The seasonal event challenges are all open and active at the same time, so you can work on multiple challenges at once. Equip an SMG and the UAV Scorestreak, for example, to work on the first step of ‘Close Quarters Master’ and ‘Survey and Destroy’ at the same time.

Good luck on this Season’s challenges. Complete them all to get some killer new weapons for your arsenal.

See you online.

In honor of National Military Appreciation Month, we sat down with CPT Florent “Flo” Groberg to talk about his time serving the United States and about the Fearless Pack he helped design for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare:

Activision Games Blog (AGB): Thank you for your service. Where, when, and how long were you deployed? What did you do?

CPT Florent “Flo” Groberg (FLO): I was deployed to Afghanistan twice. My first tour was in 2009-2010, and I was in in the Eastern Province of Kunar at COP Honaker-Miracle on the Pech River. I left in December and came back in June of 2010.

My second deployment was again in Afghanistan, but this time in Jalalabad within the Nangarhar Province, and that was in 2012. I left in January of 2012 and I came back in a different state in August of that year.

The two tours were different. My first tour I led a platoon – Dagger Company 4th Battalion out of Delta Company. We were in this little combat outpost with 90 soldiers total – two different platoons – and I had 24 men under my command.

During my second tour, I ran a personal security detail for the Brigade Commander of Eastern Afghanistan. My job was to protect him; I travelled to 45 different outstations across the country with my group of six individuals.

We had to trust each other and take care of each other – we had to be one organism, thinking and reacting the same way. On August 8, 2012, there was a pure example of a group of individuals who trained, lived, banded, and bonded together – who reacted to a threat together – with the same mindset and end state to eliminate a threat and protect the principles.

Though we lost four incredible Americans, we were able to secure the outpost, defeat the enemy, and bring some of our soldiers home.

AGB: What happened on August 8, 2012?

FLO: We landed at this combat outpost, and I had a heavy package of senior leaders in the military as well as the government. From that gate to the Governor’s Compound, where they had a meeting, is 1,100 meters.

My job was to put the principles – the main leaders – inside a diamond formation to protect them when we walked that route. Unfortunately, that day, we had too many high-ranking Colonels and Afghan Generals, so we couldn’t put everyone there, and we didn’t have an additional security element.

The entire time during that walk, we were looking for fishy things, and one of the things we noticed is that it was very quiet. Nobody was in the streets, until randomly, after 400 meters of walking, we saw a car come out of nowhere and we stopped.

Everything was eerily quiet – I’ve been in over 200 firefights my whole life, and you just know something bad is about to happen – and you have to pay attention to everything around them. And that’s what we did: 700 meters into that movement, we saw motorcycles come at full speed towards us.

That’s what killed the four guys. The craziest part is that I lived – I had a bomb blow up at my feet – but one Major, who wanted to cover our rear and was 30 feet away, was killed by shrapnel.

AGB: What is your mission now that you’re a civilian?

FLO: My purpose in life is to do something good for someone else.

Whether that’s saying “thank you” to a waiter or supporting one of the best nonprofit organizations in the country to help the men and women who served our nation and their families, I need to make sure I’m doing something positive that doesn’t benefit me.

People died for me – people made the ultimate sacrifice – and for me, it’s an opportunity – a duty – to make sure I earn it, pay it forward, and that I stop thinking about myself. I learned all that on August 8, 2012, because in eight seconds, my life completely changed, and earning the Medal of Honor gave me the platform and opportunity to help our community.

The Plunder Pack: New Vehicle Skins for All Rides in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Need to trick out your ride and stick out in the mean streets of Verdansk? Want to be firing on all cylinders with your guns and your whip next time you roll into combat?

Get a sleek new look with the Plunder Pack, the first Store bundle to feature a full set of vehicle skins for Warzone, Multiplayer, and Special Ops.

A Tour of the Garage

This eight-piece bundle comes with a new vehicle skin for every drivable vehicle in Modern Warfare, from the ATV…

Let’s go over how a squad can stay frosty with these new vehicle skins:

Caviar paint job? Check.

Gold trim from front to back? Yup.

Midnight tinted windows? You better believe the clock is striking 12 on it.

Also, we heard you like the IAV – that’s the Infantry Assault Vehicle for those who don’t know – so we gave you not one, but TWO IAV skins to stunt on ‘em whenever you earn it in Multiplayer.

How to Equip Vehicle Skins

Don’t know how to trick out your ride? Don’t worry: we remember our first time rolling around Verdansk looking like we just got out of the infil plane.

First, pick up the Plunder Pack in the Store – it’s a featured bundle, so you can’t miss it. Then, head on over to the Weapons menu in Multiplayer, Co-Op, or Warzone.

Once you’re there, scroll down to Vehicle Customization – this is where you can show off your style – select it, and pick out the vehicle you want to trick out. Once you do, you’ll see all the ways you can show off and go off with the vehicle skins you currently own. You can even preview those skins in this menu to see how dope it will look out in the streets.

As soon as you have your skins in order, drop into a Warzone match, or play Ground War or a Co-Op Operation, and get into the vehicle you updated with a fashion-forward cool skin. Once you do, your vehicle skin will be applied on the spot – talk about service!

So, what are you waiting for? Get yourself a ride that’ll have your squad leaving those foes in the dust… Some gold dust, that is.

And it’s not the only way to do so; stay tuned for vehicle skins that will give you more ways to show off your rides.

But until then, don that black and gold around Warzone, Multiplayer, and Special Ops, and let those enemies know you ride in style.

The recent story trailer gave a brief synopsis of what happened in Verdansk thus far. Here, we’ll go into greater detail of the story so far, breaking down the key moments of each Season that have progressively dialed up the conflict, disrupted the Armistice, and led to the current balance of power within the Modern Warfare universe.

Our Story Begins in the Campaign

In a desperate mission, Captain John Price and the SAS will partner alongside the CIA and the Urzikstani Liberation Force to retrieve stolen chemical weapons from a terrorist organization known as Al-Qatala.

CIA operative Alex is embedded with the ULF, working with Farah, leader of the Liberation Force (ULF) and her brother in return for their help. But that assistance comes at a cost…. Meanwhile, Kyle Garrick, a former British Army Officer, joins Captain Price to engage the enemy in a widening series of clandestine operations across continents, as the theater of war expands, and the global balance of power is threatened.

All of this is to neutralize or capture Al-Qatala’s leaders and associates: “The Butcher,” “The Wolf,” and another hidden threat that Alex, Kyle, Farah, and Price discover as they join forces to stop the world from plunging into a third global war.

Who is this mysterious benefactor to Al-Qatala? What does our CIA operative sacrifice to complete his mission? Who really is Farah? And what other exciting, pulse-pounding, and high-stakes operations do Kyle, Alex, Farah, and Price go on?

You can find out by playing the Campaign of Modern Warfare.

The Story Continues in Special Ops

After the credits roll on the Campaign, the battle is won, but the war is far from over.

This greater evil has taken over the Eastern Hemisphere, and it is up to the global alliance Armistice, a joint force of Allegiance and Coalition Operators led by Kate Laswell (CIA) and Sergeant Kamarov (FSB), to stop and sever a global terror organization’s access to weapons, funds, intelligence, and hardware. In theory, this global alliance – which includes a familiar task force – was formed to stop this suddenly amplified Al-Qatala threat which has been fortified by the mysterious Mr. Z.

You’ll advance the story by playing Operations, four player co-op experiences where you use your Operators and team up with friends – or the Call of Duty community – to infiltrate the city of Verdansk and slow the spread of Al-Qatala’s influence.

Operation Headhunter and Kuvalda

After the formation of Armistice, our Operators are briefed on their goal: to destroy this terrorist network, targeting major threats one by one, until they find and neutralize their mysterious new leader.

First, they must target Almalik, “AQ’s (Al-Qatala) slumlord-in-chief.” Operation Headhunter brings our Operators to the north edge of Downtown Verdansk. Parachuting down from Hotel Volodymyr, they infiltrate a local Bloc for intel, which leads to them fighting tanks and Juggernauts as they disable Almalik’s scramblers at the Stadium.

The follow-up Operation – Kuvalda – is where Armistice “assault Almalik’s base of operations and mark his weapons for aistrike, spiking the AQ foothold in Verdansk.” At the Arklov Peak Military Base, our Operators tussle with a pure display of force, leading them to steal a few Infantry Assault Vehicles in the process.

Operation Paladin and Crosswind

The next pair of Operations are centered around Armistice taking a deadly weapon out of Al-Qatala hands before they use it to advance the chaos in Verdansk, and ultimately, the world.

In Operation Paladin, our Operators “go behind enemy lines, extract Dr. Linda Morales, and use her intel to hunt ‘Mr. Z’ – benefactor and source of AQ’s new arsenal.” While this operation is epic for its hostage extraction and APC escorting portions, it is also the first time we learn of this mysterious Mr. Z, who is eventually revealed as a major player for Al-Qatala.

Then, in Operation Crosswind, the Armistice Operators “infiltrate the AQ-occupied Verdansk Airport, board the hijacked airplane, and recover its deadly cargo.”

If they are smart, they find and don disguises to sneak past the enemy. Otherwise, they go guns-blazing past Juggernauts and dozens of enemies until they sweep through the hijacked plane and steal a nuclear core.

Operation Harbinger and Brimstone

Next on Armistice’s hit list is “El Traficante,” a smuggler that is aiding Al-Qatala in shipping dangerous wares in and out of Verdansk.

Operation Harbinger introduces El Traficante through an informant, as Armistice Operators “gather intel on the whereabouts of local informant MAGE and verify his reports of a ‘major shipment’ leaving Verdansk.”

The four-Operator fireteam searches the Riverside neighborhood for intel while defending against a battalion of Al-Qatala forces, including multiple tanks. Then, once they know MAGE’s location, they engage in a pursuit with those holding him hostage… Or if they are skilled enough, save him before the chase sequence even occurs.

After rescuing MAGE, he tells Armistice about this major shipment, linking it to El Traficante. However, there is a problem: “El Traficante’s train has left the quarry carrying explosives.” Our Operators have to fight their way “through the railyard, recall the train, and rig it for detonation.” During this Operation, the Operators can take control of an enemy Attack Chopper to provide cover as other squad mates destroy the train.

Operation Just Reward and Strongbox

This final pair of Operations in the eight-part Special Ops story centers around “The Banker,” the holder of Al-Qatala’s purse strings.

Operation Just Reward sets the stage for Operation Strongbox, tasking Operators at collecting cell phones in order to find the location of a high value target (HVT), cornering and interrogating him. With this intel in hand, the Operators hack into a server that is sending money straight to AQ and regroup for the Operation Strongbox.

The second phase of Armistice’s plans to destroy Al-Qatala’s financial support involves destroying everything that “The Banker” has holed up in his vault. Conduct the most badass bank heist by using stolen crypto keys to break into his bank, crack open the vault, and escape the premises with enough cash to put “The Banker” out of business.

Just like Campaign, you can experience all of these Co-Op Operations in the full Modern Warfare experience.

Season One

The efforts in Co-Op have sent the Al-Qatala army into a retreat. However, the fact that the Armistice is comprised of otherwise sworn enemy factions (Demon Dogs, Chimera, Spetsnaz, etc..) doesn’t slip past Mr. Z. Although the Special Operations proved successful, Mr. Z has slowly antagonized and undermined the Armistice cooperation which is beginning to pose an even greater threat.

Somewhere in an Urzikstan town, the Allegiance shot down an Al-Qatala cargo chopper carrying chemical weapons. Seeing this blast, members of the Coalition were first to the scene and discovered these deadly weapons.

However, once the Allegiance arrive for their investigation, a conflict over who owns the gas discovered in the downed helicopter ensues. This only stokes the flame of the various faction’s hostility, and they begin to view one another as threats, even targets.

Meanwhile, we discover that the new AQ leader, or so we think, watching the action unfold from the BCH4 TV Station inside Verdansk while his followers loot the place and neutralize those trying to defend the newsroom.

Ghost Joins the Fray in Season Two

As the distrust between the members of the Armistice has turned into violence, the Commanders (Laswell, Kamarov, Price, and Nikolai) fight to remain order between the factions to stop a brand-new full-scale conflict from developing. Price decides to send in an Operator he can trust – Ghost.

In Season Two, Al-Qatala agents have stolen a Soviet nuclear warhead and smuggled it into the city of Verdansk. Combined with previously obtained chemical gas, Al-Qatala is determined to cut off Verdansk from the rest of the world. On the brink of a global catastrophe and dealing with the fall of the Armistice, Captain Price sends in Ghost to track down the location of the warhead. With the in-fighting reaching new levels, Ghost requests Price only send him Operators he can trust.

And, at the end of this trailer, we got a glimpse of what the Warzone would look like, long before we all first stepped out of the infil plane and parachuted over Verdansk.

Alex’s Shocking Return in Season Three

As Ghost asks Captain Price for backup, a familiar face returns to fight the evil that has invaded Verdansk. With the Armistice broken, more Operators are needed on the ground to find the point of origin and resolve the growing hostility.

That Operator is Alex, and he joins the ongoing battle in Verdansk after a triumphant return from the game’s Campaign.

However, this season highlights the massive problem within Armistice: rather than fight Al-Qatala, they are fighting themselves within Verdansk. Operator squads – even solo mercenaries – are infiltrating Verdansk, only to find the very same gas that they want to destroy is slowing encroaching on the city. Not only that, but only one squad can be exfiltrated, meaning that Armistice has to fight themselves in order to save their most elite Operators.

The Story Continues…

Which brings us back to the present day. The quickening instability in Verdansk, following the fall of the Armisitice, is becoming a bigger threat, maybe even bigger than Al-Qatala.  After an intercepted phone call between Target Denver and one of his elite soldiers, we learned of Armistice finally bringing out their ace in the hole: Task Force 141’s finest in Captain John Price and the final squad member he nominated to this Tier One group.

The trailer recaps everything we know so far: chemical weapons are in the wild, Mr. Z is still at large and his plan of aiding AQ and disrupting alliances in the East and West is working: Armistice Operators are “targeting their own,” according to Ghost.

Mr. Z’s plan is causing absolute chaos and only a few options are left on the table. Can Captain Price offer to take another “business trip” and stop this explosive in-fighting that is building towards a global war?

What happens next? That, Operator, is up to you to decide.

Stay tuned for a few more character biographies in the coming days to further ingrain you within this universe. Right now, you can see for yourself the chaos in Verdansk by playing Warzone, or learn the origins of this story through Campaign, Multiplayer, and Special Ops in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Stay frosty.
